DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT:
I'm fascinated by the games people play and how it all hinges on the weakest of social codes. It's always seemed to me like manners are really the only thing keeping us all from killing each other over a parking spot.
One the biggest shocks as I grew up was that nobody was going to sit me down and explain everything; from R.R.S.P.'s to Evolution. Tough lesson. I think that's why, in our twenties, about to cross that threshold into adulthood, we go a little wonky, like we've realized that this is it, this is the last time we have to ourselves without any consequence.
"Nightclub Story" is about the disconnect between what we want and what we need, between who we are and who we think we are. It may be an old story, but on street level, it can still sting.
